IT Support Specialist

American Timber and Steel Co., Inc. is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our Norwalk, Ohio office.  The IT Support Specialist is a new position and provides technical support and resolution to end users for workstations, systems, devices and access issues both locally and remotely.  This role also leads the setup of new end-user workstations as well as the improvements, upgrades, patches and reconfiguration of software, hardware and telephony company wide.  


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the management of all operating systems and end-user software.
  • Manage communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, intranet and internet applications.
  • Manage end-user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocation.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Create and maintain documentation for processes, procedures and project work.
  • Install, diagnose, repair, maintain and upgrade all hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage all new hire workstation setups.
  • Manage all audio/video for the local office.
  • Communicate with IT Manager regularly to keep abreast of project status and thorough, consistent use of project management tools.
  • Follow up with end-users to provide status information and ensure that the problem has been resolved.



  • Relevant experience in a user support environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology preferred, others will also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Servers, Windows OS, and security.
  • Experience with Office 365 is preferred.
  • Ability to install and support enterprise-wide applications
  • Ability to install and configure peripheral equipment.
  • Strong technical, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication to effectively explain complex information in simple, clear terms to non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work under deadlines.
  • Desire and ability to learn and promote new technologies and apply them.
  • Flexibility to travel as required, however infrequent.
